The star has donated the full amount of his £25k award winnings to the MVT, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's small live music spots.

The star was presented with the cheque on 16 October as his third album the album was chosen as the outstanding release of the past year.

The musician has decided to hand the money over to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the vital role grassroots venues had in his beginning days.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing my current career if it wasn't for all the performances I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," said the artist. "These venues are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have ceased operations – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.

Recently, top acts including Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a modest fee to their admission fees, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Fender also participated, raising in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help 38 grassroots venues across Britain.

These funds assisted venues that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues arising from flooding, fires and personal losses, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Other venues obtained financial assistance in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that directly benefitted musicians and audiences.

"The concept that revenue from concerts in big venues supports the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.

He is not the first artist to give his award funds to worthy causes.

In Pulp received the prize in the year 1996 for their record their work, lead singer Cocker stated that the group would give their winnings to the organization War Child.

In 2002, artist Ms Dynamite split her prize across a few good causes, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked updated gear," she told outlets.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective gave their prize money to the youth organization that supported their band, in addition to other independent music bodies.

Additionally the 1994 recipients M People gave their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the condition.

"The victory was sufficient," remarked singer the singer. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the cake. So our victory touched somebody else's life."

Last week, the trust shared it had rescued several small stages in south-east England, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were purchased under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is supported by a national body and supporters who purchase "shares" in the venues.
